Kinmen National Park Cultivates Native Plants; Partners with Enterprises for 10,000+ Trees

Kinmen, April 22 (CNA) — The Kinmen National Park Management Office produces thousands of native plant seedlings annually and has recently partnered with enterprises to plant over 10,000 trees. Director Huang Tzu-chuan stated that the office is committed to ecological restoration and environmental education to turn Kinmen into a sustainable 'Eco-Island.' The Zhongshanlin Nursery grows about 30 native species, providing 8,000 seedlings yearly for reforestation, community beautification, and corporate ESG projects. These species include drought-resistant trees like Camphor and Callery Pear, which enhance forest resilience and provide habitats for wildlife. Recent collaborations with Wan Hai Lines completed the planting of 11,350 trees at Zhaishan and other sites. Additionally, the office has allocated NT$1.5 million this year to remove invasive Spartina alterniflora from four beaches including Qionglin and Lieyu.
