The Hakka Affairs Council has collaborated with the NSO National Symphony Orchestra to launch the album 'Hakka Heart World.' Centered on the pioneering Hakka composer Bunya Koh (Jiang Wen-ye), the album also features new works commissioned from composers Chen Ke-chia, Lin Ching-mei, and Li Yuan-chen, serving as a tribute to Koh's creative life. Ku Shou-fei, Minister of the Hakka Affairs Council, stated today that the album took three terms of ministers to complete, highlighting the difficulty of music creation. She expressed joy in seeing Hakka music move a step forward and recommended it to all Taiwanese people. The album is divided into three main themes: 'Junction and Dialogue between East and West,' featuring Koh's 'Egrets Fantasy' and 'Sinfonietta'; 'Discovering Bunya Koh,' featuring new works inspired by him; and 'Heart World,' featuring his famous 'Taiwan Dance.' NSO Honorary Conductor Lu Shao-chia noted that everything originated from Bunya Koh and mentioned that Koh's daughter, Yoko Koh, provided the score for the world premiere of 'Egrets Fantasy.' Lu emphasized that 'inheritance' is vital, and the invited contemporary composers connected Hakka elements through their sensitive interpretations. The NSO will also embark on a US chamber music tour, promoting Hakka musical creations on the world stage. The digital album will be released on April 28, and the physical album on May 8.
