Taipei, April 22 (CNA) — The 'Japan-Taiwan Friendship Council' of the Fukushima Prefectural Assembly visited the DPP headquarters today. DPP Secretary-General Hsu Kuo-yung stated that the party will continue to promote multi-faceted exchanges in economy, education, and culture to deepen cooperation between central and local governments and push Taiwan-Japan relations forward. Led by Council President Sato Masataka, the 16-member delegation met with Hsu and several Taipei and New Taipei city councilors. Hsu emphasized that the relationship is built on a 'Circle of Goodness' and mutual trust. The Japanese side expressed gratitude for Taiwan's support since the 2011 earthquake and thanked President Lai Ching-te for lifting the ban on Fukushima food products, calling it a vital move for trust. They also highlighted the high number of Taiwanese tourists visiting Fukushima and called for more frequent flights between the two regions.
