Fire in Tainan Residential House Kills 1; Identity and Cause Under Investigation

Tainan, April 22 (CNA) — A fire broke out this afternoon in a residence in Tainan City's West Central District. The Tainan City Fire Department was notified at 4:02 PM of a fire in a house on a lane off Qingnian Road. Thick smoke could be seen from across the city, sparking discussions on social media. The fire department dispatched 22 vehicles and 49 personnel to the scene. The fire was extinguished by 4:27 PM. Officials stated that the site was a two-story building with a corrugated iron extension. The fire burned through miscellaneous items, covering an area of approximately 20 square meters. One person was confirmed dead at the scene, and their identity is yet to be established. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
