The Taitung County Government stated that Taitung Forest Park and Huoshui Lake are located within the Beinan River Estuary National Wetland, and are one of Taitung County's most representative urban natural landmarks. They possess vast forest green spaces and wetland ecological environments, serving functions such as preventing sandstorms, providing landscape protection forest ecology, and offering recreational spaces for the public.
In recent years, the county government has invested a large amount of funds to promote the "Forest Park 2.0" landscape upgrade project, improving related facilities in the park, including the entrance image, public toilets, parent-child inclusive facilities, and forest experience areas, which have all been refreshed. While maintaining the natural ecology, through landscape design and public space improvement, it aims to create an urban green space that integrates recreation, education, and nature experience.
County Magistrate Rao Qingling explained that county residents originally entered the Forest Park for free, but it was inconvenient to carry identification for verification. Coupled with the county government's improved finances allowing it to bear the park's maintenance costs, it was decided to cancel admission and parking fees for Taitung Forest Park starting May 1, hoping to attract more tourists from other counties and cities to enjoy this 280-hectare green space.
