(Central News Agency reporter Hao Hsueh-ching, Taichung, 21st) Exterior tiles suddenly fell off a building in Taichung's Xitun District this afternoon, narrowly missing a passing motorcyclist. The Taichung City Urban Development Bureau was notified and went to the site for inspection, immediately posting warning stickers and setting up a cordon. A letter will be sent to the building's management committee, demanding improvements within a deadline, otherwise penalties will be imposed according to law.

The Urban Development Bureau dispatched professional technicians to inspect the building located on Baoqing Street in Xitun, posting warning stickers and setting up a cordon at the site to alert the public to pass with caution.

The Urban Development Bureau stated that it had not previously received any complaints about exterior tile detachment from this building. As the exterior wall is a common part of the apartment building, a letter will be sent to the building's management committee, demanding that protective measures be set up first, and the exterior wall be immediately improved and repaired, then reported to the Urban Development Bureau for record. If improvements are not made by the deadline, a fine of NT$60,000 to NT$300,000 will be imposed in accordance with the Building Act.

The Urban Development Bureau stated that if there is a need for repair of the building's exterior wall in the future, an application can be made for the Taichung Urban Renewal Renovation and Maintenance Subsidy. This year's subsidy program was announced on March 11th, and applications can be made to the Urban Development Bureau in accordance with the Taichung City Urban Renewal Renovation and Maintenance Subsidy Implementation Regulations.
