The driver fled the scene after the accident, leaving one passenger dead and another seriously injured. Police have identified the suspect and are currently pursuing them. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

The Taichung City Fire Bureau received a report at 4:21 PM that someone was trapped in the car and immediately dispatched rescue personnel and vehicles.

Firefighters stated that upon arrival, they found one male and one female trapped in the car. After using extrication equipment to free them, both were in OHCA (out-of-hospital cardiac arrest) state and were sent to Kuang Tien General Hospital's Xiangshang Campus. The female victim died after resuscitation efforts failed, while the other person is still undergoing resuscitation.

The Wuri Precinct of the Taichung City Police Bureau's preliminary investigation found that the car veered onto the shoulder for unknown reasons, rear-ending a large truck parked on the roadside. The driver then got out of the car and fled on foot, while the two passengers were injured and sent to the hospital for emergency treatment.
