(Central News Agency reporter Yang Chi-fang, Seoul, 21st) South Korean President Lee Jae-myung visited India for a state visit and held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Blue House today stated in a written briefing that the two sides signed 15 MOUs during this visit, and also mentioned that in light of the unstable situation in the Middle East, both sides should strengthen cooperation.

Lee Jae-myung and Modi held talks yesterday. South Korea's Blue House today released information, with National Security Advisor Wei Sheng-luo summarizing the achievements of Lee Jae-myung's visit to India through a written briefing.

Wei Sheng-luo stated that generally, a summit begins with a small-group meeting, followed by an expanded meeting. To allow for in-depth exchanges between the two leaders, the small-group meeting was originally scheduled for about 40 minutes, but it actually exceeded one hour, with even protocol officers having to remind them of schedule delays, indicating a very enthusiastic discussion.

Wei Sheng-luo pointed out that South Korea and India signed 15 Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) during this visit. Wei Sheng-luo stated that both sides believe that since their relationship was upgraded to a "Special Strategic Partner" in 2015, bilateral relations have made significant progress over the past 10 years. However, compared to the potential for cooperation, the current level is still not satisfactory, and they decided to elevate bilateral relations to a new level through this meeting.

Both South Korea and India believe that in the context of increasing uncertainties such as the Middle East war, they should promote common growth and innovation, and further strengthen cooperation to overcome the severe international economic environment. The two sides also discussed issues such as the Korean Peninsula and the Middle East situation, believing that they should jointly promote international peace and stability, and discussed cooperation on the supply of core raw materials and as energy importing countries.

Lee Jae-myung stated that compared to India's population and GDP scale, there are currently only about 12,000 South Koreans and about 670 South Korean companies in India, indicating that bilateral relations are still stagnant. Therefore, he proposed to promote higher-level cooperation in areas such as private exchanges, economy, and security through this meeting.

Both sides also mentioned that they should achieve development through cooperation in a wide range of areas based on democratic values, and believe that democratic systems can enable individuals to fully realize their potential. Therefore, as representative democratic countries in Asia, cooperation between the two sides can produce great effects. (Editor: Chen Hui-ping) 1150421
