Vice President Hsiao stated in her speech that Taiwan is a trustworthy partner to the world on the path to sustainability. Carbon pricing will be implemented starting in 2025, fully launching the second energy transition, especially actively developing diverse green energy, deep energy saving, and introducing smart energy storage and disaster-resilient power grids. All these efforts may not show daily progress, but cumulatively, they represent the nation moving step by step towards a more resilient direction.
Vice President pointed out that Taiwan should make good use of its proud technological and AI strengths to promote a dual transformation towards digital and net-zero. Technology always comes from humanity; the development of technology should focus on solutions and actions. All innovative software and hardware constructions require joint driving by the government and the private sector, allowing sustainability to be internalized as everyone's mission.
The Vice President expects everyone to work together to make Taiwan the most reliable defense line for global net-zero, allowing the world to see that Taiwan can build a more hopeful and sustainable future for the next generation.
Yang Chen-fu, the convener of "Earth Solutions," stated that under international conflicts and Taiwan's current situation, the sustainable threats faced by society and the economy will be more urgent in the short term than environmental protection.
The organizer stated that today's topic focuses on the risks and opportunities for sustainable development brought by "aging and low birthrate," exploring breakthrough opportunities for Taiwan; tomorrow's topic focuses on "sustainable education," connecting the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, and Ministry of Economic Affairs with hundreds of "Sustainable Partner Schools" principals and educators across Taiwan to discuss the future of sustainable talent.
