(Central News Agency reporter Chen Chih-chung, Taipei 21st) Following the women's football case, NTNU gymnastics coach Weng Shih-hang is also involved in bullying. The Ministry of Education stated today that the continuous occurrence of incidents indicates that the teaching, training, and management culture needs further examination and improvement. A special guidance team will be formed to enter the school to assist in reviewing and improving the training culture and system.

Democratic Progressive Party legislators Chen Pei-yu, Wu Pei-yi, Chang Ya-lin, and the Humanistic Education Foundation jointly held a press conference today at the Legislative Yuan, accusing Weng Shih-hang, an associate professor in the Department of Athletic Performance at National Taiwan Normal University and an Olympic gymnastics coach, of long-term high-pressure management culture involving bullying.

The Ministry of Education later today told Central News Agency reporters that NTNU completed campus safety reports and social welfare reports on the day it received the complaint (August 14, 2025) and handled it in accordance with the Campus Bullying Prevention Regulations (hereinafter referred to as the Regulations).

This campus bullying case was confirmed after investigation. One teacher (referring to Weng Shih-hang) was suspended for two years in accordance with the "Teacher Act"; another teacher's contract was terminated in accordance with the "Principles for Employing Full-time Non-staff Teaching Personnel in Colleges and Above," and it was recommended that she not be rehired as a teaching staff member within two years.

NTNU has reported Weng Shih-hang's two-year suspension case, which is currently under review by the Ministry of Education in accordance with the law. After the review is completed, the complaining student can submit a petition to the competent authority of the school, and the teacher can also file an appeal for relief.

Regarding the campus gender equality incident, the investigation confirmed that sexual harassment occurred, and the teacher involved should receive psychological counseling and 8 hours of gender equality education. However, both the student and the teacher involved subsequently filed appeals, and the Ministry of Education replied on February 9, 2026, confirming that the appeals were justified and requesting NTNU to restart the investigation procedure.

The Ministry of Education emphasized that at the beginning of receiving the complaint, it conducted a special visit to the school on August 27, 2025. Considering the continuous incidents in NTNU's Department of Athletic Performance, further examination and improvement of the teaching, training, and management culture are needed. A special guidance team will be formed to assist in reviewing and improving, and to provide long-term professional support to students.

The Ministry of Education emphasized that for legal matters involved in this case, it will provide legal assistance to students and strengthen horizontal communication mechanisms with the Sports Administration to ensure students learn in a safe environment. (Editor: Chen Ching-fang) 1150421
