(Central News Agency reporter Lu Jia-rong, Beijing, 21st) Xie Cun, Director of the Development Department of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), stated today that recent memory price increases have led to adjustments in mobile phone terminal product prices. The MIIT will take multiple measures to support the development of the memory industry and ensure the stability of its industrial and supply chains.
China's State Council Information Office held a press conference today to "introduce the development of industry and informatization in the first quarter of 2026." Xie Cun stated at the conference that the recent increase in memory prices has led to adjustments in mobile phone terminal product prices, which has attracted widespread attention from all sectors.
Regarding this issue, Xie Cun said that the MIIT will take multiple measures to support the development of the memory industry and ensure the stability of its industrial and supply chains. On the one hand, it will enhance supply capacity, promote supply-demand matching, and encourage domestic and foreign enterprises to increase investment and improve production capacity. It will support terminal enterprises and memory enterprises to strengthen interaction and docking, and broaden diversified supply channels.
He also said that, on the other hand, it will maintain market order through various means, guide memory enterprises to strengthen channel management, and cooperate with relevant departments to crack down on market-disrupting behaviors such as "hoarding and speculation" in accordance with the law.
Zhang Yunming, Vice Minister of China's MIIT, also stated at the conference that in the first quarter of this year, the value added of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 6.1% year-on-year, and industry contributed nearly 40% to economic growth. Applications of artificial intelligence and other technologies are accelerating in the electronics and consumer goods industries. At the same time, authorities are regulating price competition, and the competitive order in industries such as new energy vehicles and solar energy continues to improve, with related product prices rebounding.
He said that currently, domestic effective demand is insufficient, cash flow for small and medium-sized enterprises and some industries is tight, and the operation of industries such as petrochemicals is disrupted. Arduous efforts are still needed to consolidate the positive momentum of the industrial economy. The next step will be to expand demand, improve quality, cultivate new drivers, and consolidate the upward trend.
Zhang Yunming also stated that multiple departments have jointly systematically laid out future industry tracks, including relying on major national science and technology projects, increasing support for future industries, and cultivating 509,000 high-tech enterprises for quantum technology and other fields. They will unblock bottlenecks between technological innovation and market demand, and issue special support policies for various segmented tracks. (Editor: Chen Kai-yu) 1150421
