Lyon International Illustration Festival to Debut in September, Inviting Taiwanese Creators for Residency

TAIPEI (CNA reporter Chiu Tsu-yin) – The Lyon International Illustration Festival in France will debut in September, with Taiwan invited to be the theme country this year, showcasing Taiwan's illustration creative energy. The Ministry of Culture today announced the launch of the "2026 Taiwan-France Illustration Residency Program," which will select representatives to go for exchange. According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Culture today, this program, jointly promoted by the Taiwan Cultural Center in France under the Ministry of Culture and the renowned French cultural and creative organization KIBLIND, is expected to select 1 to 3 outstanding Taiwanese illustrators to go to Paris and Lyon, France, from September 4 to 28 for a one-month residency exchange. The press release pointed out that the IF Illustration Festival was founded by KIBLIND in 2023, and through exhibitions, workshops, and cross-disciplinary activities, it has gradually become an important illustration exchange platform in Europe. The "2026 Taiwan-France Illustration Residency Program" is part of the "Lyon International Illustration Festival - Taiwan Focus" event, providing creators with international travel, accommodation during the residency, studio space, and a 1200 Euro creation fee, and assisting in establishing an international art network. It hopes to promote Taiwan-France cultural cooperation and enhance the visibility of Taiwanese illustration on the international stage through in-depth exchange and creative practice.
