(Central News Agency reporter Lu Chia-jung, Beijing, 21st) Chinese technology giant Huawei launched its new Pura X Max phone on the 20th, with a starting price of RMB 10,999 (approximately NT$50,000). A Huawei executive urged consumers to purchase the new phone as soon as possible, stating that Huawei may soon face pressure from memory chip shortages, and "prices may increase."

According to mainland media reports, Huawei released its new Pura series phones, artificial intelligence (AI) glasses, and other new products on the 20th. Among them, the Pura X Max became the focal point, featuring a double-sided wide design, with a relatively small 5.4-inch external screen that expands to 7.7 inches, close to the usage range of a small tablet device.

Huawei's local Chinese competitors, such as Xiaomi and Oppo, are also continuously launching and upgrading foldable phones to compete for high-end consumer groups. At the same time, the competition between US tech giant Apple and Huawei in the Chinese market continues to heat up.

Huawei Executive Director, Director of the Product Review Committee, and Chairman of Terminal BG, Yu Chengdong, urged consumers on Monday to buy the new phone as soon as possible, stating that Huawei may soon face pressure from memory chip shortages.

He said at the press conference, "The pricing pressure for new phones is currently very high. If costs cannot be borne in the future, prices may also increase." (Editor: Chen Kai-yu) 1150421
