(Central News Agency, reporter Tseng Chih-yi, Taipei, 16th) The Water Resources Agency (WRA) issued a press release today stating that, based on meteorological data, conditions are favorable for artificial cloud seeding to increase the chances of rainfall. The WRA's artificial weather modification task force decided to deploy seeding flares at the Mingde, Yonghesan, Baoshan Second, and Shimen reservoirs. By leveraging the assistance of southwest winds, they hope to bring more rainfall to the catchment areas of Hsinchu and Taoyuan.
Additionally, the WRA also conducted cloud seeding operations at Renyitan, Wushantou, and Zengwen reservoirs. Utilizing the effects of westerly winds, the agency hopes to increase water volume in the catchment areas south of Chiayi.
The WRA added that another weather front is expected to pass through Taiwan on April 17 and 18. Although the currently forecasted rainfall is not particularly significant, the agency will continue to monitor weather changes and trigger artificial cloud seeding operations at appropriate times as conditions permit.
