(Central News Agency, Washington, 14th) The United States stated today that Israel and Lebanon held "productive" talks in Washington, and both countries agreed to commence direct negotiations at a mutually agreed time and place. Israeli Ambassador to the US Yechiel Leiter noted after the meeting that the two sides had a wonderful exchange.

According to AFP, US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott issued a statement saying: "Participants engaged in a productive discussion regarding the steps for Israel and Lebanon to start direct negotiations. All parties unanimously agreed to begin direct negotiations at a time and place agreed upon by both sides."

After holding direct talks with Lebanon in Washington today, Israeli Ambassador to the US Yechiel Leiter praised the "wonderful exchange" between the two sides and stated that the two countries are "on the same page."

He told the media after the meeting: "We both enjoyed this exchange. We had a wonderful conversation lasting more than two hours."
