TAO Criticizes MOFA's Countermeasures Against Denmark's Belittlement; MAC Says CCP Has No Right to Interfere

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has taken countermeasures, while China's Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO) claimed that the "One China principle" is a basic norm of international relations. The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) stated tonight that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has no right to interfere.

The registered nationality and birthplace on residency permits for Taiwanese citizens living in Denmark have been changed from Taiwan to China by Denmark since 2024. Remus Chen, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs at MOFA, recently stated that certain courtesies for Danish representatives in Taiwan have been canceled, while sternly calling for a proposed solution as soon as possible to avoid affecting bilateral relations.

Chen Binhua, spokesperson for China's TAO, stated on this matter during a regular press conference this morning that the "One China principle" is a basic norm of international relations and a universal consensus of the international community.

In response, the MAC stated in writing tonight that the cancellation of Danish diplomatic courtesies by MOFA falls within the scope of diplomatic affairs, and the CCP has no right to interfere.

The MAC emphasized that the Republic of China is a sovereign state, and the objective fact and status quo in the Taiwan Strait is that the ROC and the People's Republic of China are not subordinate to each other.
