Central News Agency (CNA) - (New York, 20th) May is celebrated as "Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month" in the United States, with the second week being "Taiwanese American Heritage Week." Starting May 1st, the documentary "Invisible Nation," which depicts Taiwan's democratic journey, will be successively broadcast on the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and screened on US university campuses, hoping that audiences across the nation and younger generations will gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan's story.

Lin Sumei, President of the Formosan Association for Public Affairs (FAPA), stated that this year, special arrangements have been made for the film to premiere at the beginning of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, coinciding with Taiwanese American Heritage Week, on PBS. She hopes that community audiences across the United States will have the opportunity to directly learn about Taiwan's story.

She added that Taiwan's struggle for democracy and its long experience of being marginalized in terms of identity have deeply resonated with the Taiwanese American community, which has been persistently advocating for Taiwanese identity and naming rights. Taiwanese American Heritage Week invites all sectors of American society to explore Taiwan's democratic progress, national status, and identity in greater depth.

The Formosan Association for Public Affairs, in collaboration with director Vanessa Hope and the production team, has organized and promoted a nationwide university screening tour. To date, over a thousand participants have attended. The event is scheduled to visit 19 universities in 11 states, including prestigious institutions like Yale University, UC Berkeley, and the University of Florida.

Accompanying the screenings are panel discussions featuring diplomats, policymakers, and scholars, aimed at providing future professionals in diplomacy and national security with a more concrete and in-depth perspective on Taiwan.

Starting May 1st, "Invisible Nation" will be broadcast on public television networks across the United States, allowing American audiences to better understand Taiwan's story and pass it on to the next generation. (Editor: Chen Huiping) 1150421
