(CNA Reporter Wu Chia-hao, Taipei, 20th) Despite variables in US-Iran negotiations, the Taiwan stock market was galvanized by US major indices hitting record highs last Friday. With capital flowing back into the electronics sector, Taiwan stocks opened higher today, crossing back over the 37,000 mark. The index hit a peak of 37,303.56 points in early trading, surging over 499 points to set a new historical record.
Electronic heavyweight TSMC opened flat at 2,030 TWD but reached a high of 2,055 TWD in early trading, up 25 TWD. Foxconn (Hon Hai) hit a high of 207.5 TWD, rising 0.73%.
