(CNA reporter Pan Tzu-yu, Taipei, 20th) The national-level "Taiwan International Space Technology Conference" (TASTI) enters its 3rd year and will be held from November 8 to 11 at the ICC Tainan. The Taiwan Space Agency (TASA) stated that this year's event is expected to attract over 3,500 professionals from more than 18 countries, with over 75 domestic and international companies exhibiting, showcasing the dynamic international exchange of the space industry.
TASA issued a press release today stating that under the guidance of the National Science and Technology Council, TASTI 2026 is co-hosted by TASA and the Tainan City Government. It will integrate industry, government, academia, and research capabilities to build an important platform for domestic and international space sector exchanges.
TASTI 2026 integrates academic symposiums and international organizational meetings, and will concurrently host the TASTI EXPO (November 8 to 10). The first day is designated as "Public Day," open for free registration and visit by the general public. This session also links the 15th Nano-Satellite Symposium (NSAT+) and the 9th Asia-Oceania Space Weather Alliance (AOSWA) to promote cross-border exchanges.
TASA noted that in response to the accelerated global space activities and the rapid rise of commercial space, space infrastructure has become a critical resilience support. TASTI 2026 is themed "Space Trust, Local Resilience," responding to the high international attention on secure, reliable, and sustainable space systems. By integrating scientific research, technology development, and industrial applications, it showcases Taiwan's role and potential in the global space arena.
The forum section plans 23 thematic forums covering space industry, technology, and affairs, along with an external pavilion forum. Topics include satellite communications, application services, and space security, while also focusing on advanced technologies like communication chips, AI edge computing, and quantum encryption, extending to commercial space, startup development, and talent cultivation.
Various sessions will also use NASA's 32 critical technology gaps for achieving long-term lunar presence as a starting point to inventory current bottlenecks in space technology development and discuss Taiwan's industrial layout, academic research, and policy directions.
The TASTI EXPO is expanded this year, planning 5 major theme zones: Supply Chain, Satellite Applications, Space Testing, Space Education, and National Pavilions, promoting international industry matchmaking and cooperation opportunities.
Co-organizers of TASTI 2026 span across the government and industry, including the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Interior, Central Weather Administration of MOTC, Cloud Computing & IoT Association in Taiwan (CIAT), and Taiwan Space Industry Development Association (TSIDA). It also partners with international enterprises and professional media platforms such as Clarivate, Keysight, and Electronics Engineering Times, demonstrating the power of cross-domain integration and international linkage.
