The Ministry of Economic Affairs (Bureau of Trade) explained that glass curtain walls, commonly used as building exteriors and composed of glass and metal frames, are closely related to construction safety. Previously, these products were grouped with other aluminum frames under a broad classification, making it impossible to ascertain the actual import volumes and origins of glass curtain walls individually. Therefore, following recommendations from relevant industry associations, the government has split the original broad category, creating a dedicated code for 'Aluminum Frame Glass Curtain Walls' and another for 'Other Finished Aluminum Frames and Parts,' allowing for separate statistical tracking of different products. The Bureau of Trade emphasized that this adjustment is primarily to clarify data and assist the government in understanding market conditions, not to relax controls. The import of aluminum frame glass curtain walls made in mainland China was already prohibited and remains unchanged under the new system. (Editor: Lin Jiaxian) 1150407
