Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che traveled to Malaysia to promote local agricultural products. Yesterday, he visited a supermarket in Kuala Lumpur selling Tainan red guavas and winter melon tea bricks, promoting them to local residents and hoping they would have the opportunity to visit Tainan in person to experience its fresh and sweet flavors.
The Tainan City Government issued a press release today, stating that continuing the trend of Tainan's agricultural products set in Penang, Mayor Huang arrived in Kuala Lumpur yesterday to oversee the in-store sales of Tainan red guavas and winter melon tea bricks. Representative to Malaysia Lien Yu-ping, President of the Malaysian Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce Tsai Hsin-tien, and National Policy Advisor to the Presidential Office Lin Kai-min were present to support the event.
Huang stated that this is the first time Tainan's pineapples and guavas are being introduced to the Malaysian public. Both fruits possess unique flavors and nutritional value, and he hopes they will be favored by consumers who value natural and healthy products. The winter melon tea, a nostalgic traditional taste, features a fragrant, sweet, and thirst-quenching quality, making it particularly popular in Malaysia's warm climate.
Huang said that hundreds of boxes of pineapples prepared for Penang and Kuala Lumpur were quickly sold out. He anticipates strong sales for red guavas and hopes that Malaysian people will experience the warmth and hospitality of Tainan through tasting its flavors. Naturally, he also hopes that Malaysian citizens will have the chance to visit Tainan in person to savor its sweet delicacies.
Lien Yu-ping remarked that bilateral trade between Taiwan and Malaysia is robust, making it a suitable place for marketing Taiwanese products. She is delighted that Tainan's fruits and winter melon tea have received recognition in Malaysia and wishes these quality products great sales success.
The Tainan City Government added that in recent years, the city government has actively worked on improving quality, brand packaging, and channel matchmaking to establish a comprehensive export system and has continuously expanded into the Malaysian market. The event observed that consumers generally gave positive feedback after tasting, further boosting the city government's confidence in deepening its presence in the Malaysian market.
