The National Development Council's National Archives Administration announced today via press release that it will host the "International Symposium on Digital Governance and Intelligent Services in Archive Management" on June 10-11 at the National Archives. It has invited former and current heads of the national archives of the United States and Canada to give keynote speeches, promoting international exchange.

Globally, national archives are a very common existence, considered one of the three major pillars of the knowledge system alongside libraries and museums. National archives are also seen as an indicator of democratic governance transparency, as governments make their administrative records open for public viewing and application, symbolizing the trust relationship between the government and the people.

After Taiwan's first National Archives building was inaugurated last year, an international symposium on "Digital Governance and Intelligent Services in Archive Management" is planned for June 10-11 this year. On the first day, Trudy Huskamp Peterson, former Acting Archivist of the United States National Archives, will deliver a keynote speech on "Archive Management and Services in the Digital Era," sharing how digital tools assist archive management and services based on US experience. On the second day, Leslie Weir, current Librarian and Archivist of Canada, will discuss the process of building the new Ādisōke building in collaboration with the Ottawa Public Library, while also focusing on the transition from traditional to digital innovation.

Lin Chiuyan, Director-General of the National Archives Administration of the National Development Council, stated that this symposium will invite domestic and foreign scholars to discuss archive digital capabilities, transformation, and application services, and will extend discussions to AI ethics governance and digital capability enhancement, ensuring that while promoting archive digital transformation, information security and citizen empowerment are also considered.

The Archives Administration stated that the symposium will be conducted in both physical and online formats, requiring advance registration. Registration will be open from April 20 to May 6.
