(Central News Agency Reporter Cai Mengyu, Kaohsiung, April 20th) Kaohsiung City's "Mass Spec Express" mobile mass spectrometry vehicle's circuit rapid screening service will be stationed in Qishan District for the first time from today until April 30th, offering agricultural product mobile testing, free rapid testing, and precise screening to help farmers grasp agricultural product safety.

The Kaohsiung City Government Agriculture Bureau, which is continuously expanding the promotion of "Mass Spec Express," along with the Council of Agriculture, Food and Drug Administration, the National Chiayi University Department of Plant Medicine, and the Qishan District Farmers' Association, held the launch ceremony for the circuit service at the Farmers' Association's fertilizer warehouse.

The Agriculture Bureau stated that by bringing the mobile mass spectrometry vehicle to agricultural production areas, it provides mobile testing, free rapid testing, and precise screening, assisting farmers in real-time to grasp agricultural product safety and ensuring quality control from the source to protect local high-quality agricultural produce.

Fang Jiezou, Secretary-General of the Qishan District Farmers' Association, said that Qishan cultivates bananas, lychees, papayas, lemons, guavas, smooth gourds, cucumbers, bitter gourds, and pumpkins. He hopes farmers will actively utilize the mobile mass spectrometry vehicle inspection service to understand the safety of their own agricultural products in real-time.

Wang Xinyu, Deputy Director of the Southern District Branch of the Council of Agriculture, said that the "Mass Spec Rapid Testing Mobile Inspection Vehicle" is equipped with a high-resolution mass spectrometer capable of simultaneously testing 200 types of pesticides. It offers rapid and accurate testing capabilities, significantly saving farmers' time for sample testing and allowing them to obtain test results instantly.

The Agriculture Bureau stated that since the launch of the "Mass Spec Express" plan last year, which provides rapid screening services for pesticide residues, over 500 agricultural products have been tested. Farmers can send a sample weighing about 1 catty (0.6 kg) to the Qishan Farmers' Association fertilizer warehouse for testing every Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 3 PM until April 30th.
