Paris (Central News Agency, reported by AFP) - American billionaire Elon Musk has been asked to voluntarily appear in Paris today to cooperate with France's investigation into his social media platform X, but it remains unclear whether he will appear.

According to AFP, X's algorithms are accused of interfering in French politics, and French authorities launched a related investigation in January last year. In February this year, Musk was notified to appear for questioning.

This investigation later extended to X's artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot Grok, which is accused of spreading Holocaust denial remarks and sexually explicit deepfake images.

Paris prosecutors searched X's Paris office in early February. The social media giant denied any wrongdoing and dismissed the search as a "politicized" and "abusive judicial" action.

At that time, Paris prosecutors also summoned Musk and X's former CEO Linda Yaccarino, asking them to voluntarily appear for questioning as "the actual and legal managers of the X platform at the time of the event." Musk dismissed this move as a "political attack."

Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau stated in February that X platform employees had also received summonses and would testify between April 20 and 24.

However, Paris prosecutors stated on the 18th of this month that whether those summoned appear for voluntary questioning will not affect the continuation of the investigation.

Details regarding the time and location of Musk's scheduled questioning were not disclosed by French officials.

The French investigation focuses on several suspected criminal offenses, including conspiracy to possess child sexual exploitation imagery and denial of crimes against humanity. (Compiler: Hong Peiying) 1150420
