A female fan posted online stating that she was subjected to "gender humiliation" on the 5th while attending a game at the Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium. The female fan was sitting in a non-standing cheering section, but a male fan in front of her stood up to film the cheerleaders, blocking the view. Fans in the back row spoke up to stop him, and the female fan also tapped the male fan to remind him that standing was not allowed in this section. However, she was repeatedly harassed with gender-discriminatory language such as "Women don't understand" and "Women shouldn't talk."
CPBL President Tseng Chi-chang stated today at an event that after seeing the female fan's social media post, he immediately contacted the home team, CTBC Brothers, hoping for an investigation. They have already contacted the female fan but have not been able to identify the male fan.
Tseng Chi-chang said that the league has no public authority and can only contact both parties to understand the full details of the incident. Tseng Chi-chang once again emphasized his desire to create a gender-equal viewing environment, stating that baseball is a healthy sport suitable for men, women, and families to watch together, and the league will strive to improve the viewing environment.
