Family Reports Chen Kuang-fu's Condition Improving; Eyes Brighten at Smell of Braised Pork Rice

(Central News Agency, Penghu County) The family of Penghu County Magistrate Chen Kuang-fu said today that after more than two months in the hospital, Chen Kuang-fu's condition is continuously improving. Recently, Chen Kuang-fu's wife, Wu Shujin, brought him his favorite braised pork rice to the hospital. When the familiar aroma spread, Chen Kuang-fu's "eyes lit up, becoming bright and spirited."

Chen Kuang-fu fell and became unconscious during an event on the first day of Lunar New Year (February 17th) and is currently hospitalized in the intensive care unit after surgery.

Chen Kuang-fu's family stated on Facebook that Chen Kuang-fu's favorite dish is braised pork rice. Although he cannot taste it yet and can only consume a little broth, when Wu Shujin brought the braised pork rice to the hospital, and the familiar aroma spread, Chen Kuang-fu's "eyes lit up, becoming bright and spirited."

Chen Kuang-fu's family said that while Chen Kuang-fu cannot express himself yet, his family can deeply feel his sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch gradually awakening. Especially when family members speak to him about Penghu's affairs and greetings from fellow villagers, his weak but firm reactions indicate that his unyielding sense of responsibility for his hometown has been supporting him.
