(CNA Reporter Chang Jung-hsiang, Tainan, 15th) A collision between a car and a scooter occurred at around 10 AM yesterday in the West Central District of Tainan City. The scooter rider was severely injured and died after being sent to the hospital, while the car driver suffered minor injuries. The deceased was a student at National Cheng Kung University. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
The Second Precinct of the Tainan City Police Bureau told CNA reporters today that the accident occurred in the West Central District. At the time, a 26-year-old man surnamed Lin was driving west on Chenggong Road and turning left onto Zhongcheng Road when he collided with a scooter traveling east straight on the opposite lane of Chenggong Road, resulting in damage to both vehicles.
When ambulance personnel arrived at the scene, the scooter rider, a 22-year-old man surnamed Chuang, showed OHCA (Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest) and died after being sent to the hospital. Lin suffered abrasions on his legs. Police stated that the Tainan District Prosecutors Office has completed the body examination, determining Chuang's cause of death to be hemopneumothorax.
