(CNA Seoul, April 20, Foreign News) South Korean Yonhap News Agency (Yonhap) quoted North Korean Central News Agency today as reporting that North Korea test-fired a Hwasong-11RA surface-to-surface tactical ballistic missile yesterday. Leader Kim Jong Un, who personally oversaw the launch, expressed "great satisfaction" with the results.

The report stated that the South Korean military detected North Korea launching these missiles from the vicinity of Sinpo on the east coast towards the eastern waters of the peninsula at around 6:10 AM yesterday. The missiles flew approximately 140 kilometers.

Reuters quoted North Korean Central News Agency as reporting that the missiles were fired towards an island target area about 136 kilometers away, hitting an area of approximately 12.5 to 13 hectares. The report described the impact as highly concentrated, demonstrating the system's ability for focused suppression strikes.

The report quoted Kim Jong Un as saying that introducing warheads for various mission purposes would more effectively meet the military's combat needs, combining precision strike capabilities with enhanced firepower for designated areas.

Kim Jong Un expressed satisfaction with the test-fire results, emphasizing that it proved the years of effort by the dedicated missile warhead research team were not in vain. He also urged defense scientists to continue advancing the technological development required for military readiness.

This test-fire is North Korea's fourth this month and seventh this year. The South Korean Presidential Office yesterday called on Pyongyang to cease such "provocative acts," emphasizing that these actions violate UN Security Council resolutions. (Translator: He Hongru) 1150420
