Lu Chun-ming, Secretary-General of the Chinese Taipei Film Cinematographers Association, posted a photo of them together on Facebook, stating, "Lai-sang (Lai Chen-ying), we will always miss you."

Born in Taichung in 1931, Lai Chen-ying was one of Taiwan's first-generation film technical talents cultivated by "Agricultural Education Film Company," the predecessor of Central Motion Picture Corporation. He entered the film industry in the 1950s, progressing from assistant cinematographer to cinematographer and then director. He was also sent to Japan to study color cinematography and processing, bringing the latest techniques back to Taiwan.

In 1963, Lai Chen-ying began a long-term collaboration with director Li Hsing after filming "Street and Lane." He won three Golden Horse Awards for Best Cinematography for "The Duckling Killer," "Orchids and My Love," and "Execution in Autumn." In 2022, he was honored with the Golden Horse Lifetime Achievement Award. At 91 years old, he accepted the award on stage, saying, "Although I am old and my physical strength is not what it used to be, like everyone else, I love cinema the most, and I will continue to move forward with everyone for cinema."

Lu Chun-ming stated that Lai Chen-ying and cinematographer Hua Hui-ying co-founded the Chinese Taipei Film Cinematographers Association 37 years ago. Lai Chen-ying often shared film techniques and related information at the association's gatherings, which greatly benefited younger cinematographers.

Lu Chun-ming said, "I visited him at his home last year, and we exchanged LINE messages earlier this year. Lai-sang's passing leaves us with reluctance and eternal remembrance."
