A man surnamed Wu was indicted today by Yunlin prosecutors after he allegedly fired a gun at a residence in Taoyuan City late last year and posted photos of firearms on social media platform Instagram, accompanied by remarks threatening the public. The Yunlin County Beigang Police Division arrested the individual earlier this year.

The Yunlin District Prosecutors Office announced today that Mr. Wu, 31, posted firearm photos on Instagram in December last year and made public intimidation remarks. Prosecutor Tsai Shao-hsun led a special task force, including the Yunlin County Beigang Police Division and the Yunlin County Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division Technology Investigation Team, to investigate.

Following evidence collection, the task force executed a search warrant on January 7 this year, seizing one modified GLOCK-like non-standard pistol (including one magazine) and four rounds of ammunition, and apprehended Mr. Wu.

After questioning by the prosecutor, it was determined that he was involved in public intimidation and violations of the Act Governing the Control of Guns, Ammunition, and Knives. Due to concerns about flight risk and repeated offenses, a detention request was filed with the Yunlin District Court. The original court ruling granted bail of NT$200,000, but the prosecution's appeal was successful, and detention was ultimately approved.

Police investigation revealed that Mr. Wu, due to a dispute with others, fired a submachine gun at a house and vehicles in Taoyuan District, Taoyuan City, on November 14 last year. He was subsequently investigated by the police and transferred to the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office for investigation.

However, to avoid retaliation, Mr. Wu publicly posted multiple temporary stories on his Instagram account around 2 AM on December 28, 2025, stating, "I fired more than 40 shots, it's not fake (including firearm photos)," endangering public safety.

During the search on January 7 this year, the task force seized firearms and ammunition. The prosecution concluded its investigation today, believing that Mr. Wu is suspected of violating the Act Governing the Control of Guns, Ammunition, and Knives and the crime of public intimidation under the Criminal Code, and has filed a public prosecution.
