The reconstruction project for the Yizhu Fire Station of the Chiayi County Fire Department's First Brigade is nearing completion. The building's design draws inspiration from the traditional architectural roofs of Yizhu, creating a sloping skyline that combines disaster prevention and recreational functions. County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang, after inspecting the site, stated that it will become a landmark for Yizhu Township.
Weng Chang-liang, accompanied by Fire Chief Tsai Chien-an, inspected the progress, quality management, and construction safety measures of the Yizhu Fire Station reconstruction project today and listened to a briefing. Tsai Chien-an stated that the base is located in Renli Village, Yizhu Township, surrounded by farmland, covering an area of 831 square meters, with a total floor area of 836.22 square meters, and is a 3-story reinforced concrete building.
Tsai Chien-an pointed out that the most unique aspect of this building is its southeast side, which draws inspiration from the sloping roof skyline of traditional Yizhu architecture, combined with metal grilles, integrating the bamboo basket image of traditional pigeon racing culture and the fire phoenix emblem. The northwest side extends the agricultural landscape pattern, using wooden grilles with climbing plants for facade segmentation, extending greenery to the roof; creating a building that combines disaster prevention functions with recreational functions, providing a high-quality working environment for firefighters.
Weng Chang-liang said that the building is surrounded by farmland, and its facade, back, and window designs are integrated into the environmental landscape. The elevated platform also offers a panoramic view of Yizhu's streetscape and activities, similar to early fire observation towers. After its activation, it will become a landmark for Yizhu.
The Fire Department stated that the reconstruction cost of the Yizhu Fire Station exceeds NT$70 million, with over NT$43 million subsidized by the central government, and the remaining funds raised locally. Construction began on March 15, 2025, and is expected to be completed by the end of this month. (Editor: Chen Jen-hua) 1150413
