Workforce Development Agency, Central and Southern Taiwan Branch, obtains international certification for greenhouse gas inventory.

Liu Hsiu-chen, Director of the Central, Changhua, and Nantou Branch of the Workforce Development Agency, who accepted the verification certificate on behalf of the agency, stated that with the global trend of carbon reduction, enterprises are not only facing pressure from carbon fees and carbon tariffs, but also increasing demands for carbon reduction in supply chains. This has led to a continuous increase in demand for "green-collar talents" who understand both technology and carbon reduction. In response to the needs of industrial transformation, Liu Hsiu-chen pointed out that since 2024, the Central, Changhua, and Nantou Branch has gradually incorporated ESG and net-zero carbon emission-related content into its self-organized vocational training courses. This allows trainees to cultivate concepts of sustainability and carbon reduction while learning professional skills, thereby strengthening their interdisciplinary capabilities. The successful acquisition of ISO 14064-1 international certification not only demonstrates the branch's concrete achievements in promoting net-zero transformation but also symbolizes a significant step from concept to practice. The Central, Changhua, and Nantou Branch explained that the scope of this inventory covered 13 training workshops at the Taichung Training Center and the Changhua Labor Academy. Due to the diversity of training categories and different equipment operation modes, the emission sources were relatively complex. Therefore, the branch specially established a cross-unit inventory team, with the participation of trainers and administrative staff from various workshops, to comprehensively inventory emission sources. They completed the 2024 greenhouse gas inventory report and passed verification by a professional institution, ensuring the fairness and transparency of the data, and laying the foundation for subsequent energy-saving and carbon reduction measures. Through this inventory experience, the Central, Changhua, and Nantou Branch stated that it will feed back into talent cultivation, allowing trainees to understand the skills required for net-zero transformation while learning technology, thereby enhancing their green employment competitiveness. In terms of actual carbon reduction actions, the branch has completed the construction of solar power generation equipment and energy management systems in two training workshops and is gradually expanding to other areas. At the same time, it continues to introduce energy-saving training equipment and green environmental training materials, implementing carbon reduction measures within the training environment.
