(Central News Agency reporter Hsieh Ching-wen, New Taipei, 18th) In the championship game of the Maxe Air Conditioner Cup National Junior League Baseball Tournament, Taoyuan Xinming Junior High School faced off against Taichung Zhongshan Junior High School. Taoyuan Xinming's Sung I-Le excelled in both pitching and hitting, helping the team secure a 3-1 victory and claim the representation rights for the LLB Junior League Baseball Tournament. They will head to South Korea at the end of June to participate in the Asia-Pacific regional tournament.

The Maxe Air Conditioner Cup National Junior League Baseball Tournament serves as the domestic selection tournament for the Little League Baseball (LLB) Junior League Baseball division. The winning team obtains the representation rights and will participate in the Asia-Pacific regional tournament under their county, city, and school name, striving for the Asia-Pacific championship and a ticket to the world series in the United States.

Taoyuan Xinming Junior High faced Taichung Zhongshan Junior High in the championship game today. In the first two innings, both sides left the bases loaded, and after 2 innings, the two teams were deadlocked at 1-1. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Taoyuan Xinming's Sung I-Le seized the opportunity with runners on first and second base, hitting a bases-clearing double and sealing the game with one swing.

Sung I-Le performed outstandingly in both offense and defense. Today, he used 98 pitches as the starting pitcher, throwing 6.2 innings, allowing only 2 hits to Taichung Zhongshan, issuing 3 walks, striking out 3, and giving up 1 earned run. He was a key contributor to the team's championship and was awarded the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Sung I-Le evaluated himself, saying he was relatively satisfied with his batting performance today, while his pitching was a bit erratic in the first 2 innings. Today, he hit the game-winning hit off Taichung Zhongshan's starting pitcher, Huang Li-Yuan. The two had fought together in the World Boys Baseball Tournament during their Little League days. Facing a familiar opponent, Sung I-Le smiled and said he couldn't go soft, specifically targeting slower breaking balls to attack.

During his Little League years, Sung I-Le primarily served as a catcher. After entering junior high, he added the role of a pitcher. Now he can show confidence on the field and shoulder important battles. Taoyuan Xinming head coach Huang Wei-Chih pointed out that they initially hoped to add another pitcher to the team and noticed Sung I-Le's good pitching speed. "His pitching today brought a great sense of stability. His front foot wasn't stepping properly in the first two innings, but after adjusting, he was only one batter away from challenging for a complete game."

Huang Wei-Chih saw the fighting spirit of his players: "They want to win every game." Sung I-Le stated that he hopes to play all the way to the World Series in the US and learn more about foreign baseball styles. (Editor: Chen Jen-hua) 1150418
