Taiwan Women's Football Team Alleges Coaching Staff Dysfunction, Demands Reorganization; Football Association to Investigate

The Taiwan Women's Football Team today posted a collective petition on social media platforms, addressed to the Sports Administration, National Sports Training Center, and Chinese Taipei Football Association. The petition severely criticized several major deficiencies of the national team, including "severe sports injuries due to lack of scientific planning in training management," "dysfunctional tactical guidance and severe role misalignment," "chaotic internal decision-making and opaque selection mechanisms," and "lack of systematic feedback and professional review mechanisms." It further revealed that the coaching staff lacked professional judgment in "training load management," with improper intensity arrangements before matches and a lack of scientific data support, leading to multiple players suffering non-contact injuries, including one player with a severe muscle tear of 5.75 cm. The petition requested immediate reorganization of the coaching staff, replacement of the head coach, and restructuring of the coaching staff to introduce a leadership team with scientific training planning, clear tactical systems, and professional intelligence gathering capabilities. Chinese Taipei Football Association Chairman Chang Tsan also issued a statement today in response, emphasizing that players are the nation's most important and irreplaceable core assets. He expressed serious concern and understanding regarding the issues mentioned in the petition, such as sports injury risks, disputes over training load management, and dysfunctional tactical communication and management mechanisms. The Football Association's statement mentioned that to ensure objective, credible, and professional handling of the case, the association has established a special investigation team. Li Wen-pin, former CEO of the National Sports Training Center and current chief consultant of the Football Association, will serve as the convener, with the participation of sports professionals and relevant departments. A report is expected to be completed within 30 days. The Football Association pointed out that the problems reflected in this incident belong to the overall challenges at the institutional and governance levels, and will be comprehensively improved through institutional reforms. Facing the upcoming Asian Games and intercontinental playoffs, they will accelerate the professional reorganization of the coaching staff, establish clear tactical systems and training logic, and fully protect the players' competitive performance and career development.
