Central News Agency (Taipei, April 14, 2026) - The Taiwan stock market opened higher and continued to rise today. The Taiex index reached a peak of 36341.44 points during trading, setting a new historical high. It closed at 36296.12 points, up 838.83 points, marking a new closing high. The total transaction value was NT$971.731 billion. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) set a new record price today, closing at NT$2055, up NT$65. Its market capitalization climbed to NT$53.29 trillion, contributing approximately 516 points to the overall market. Chip designer Aspeed Technology also reached a new record high, peaking at NT$13270 and closing at NT$13005, up NT$825. Other major electronic stocks such as Hon Hai Precision Industry, MediaTek, and Taiming Technology also closed higher, with the overall electronic sector index rising by 2.64%. Traditional industry sectors including plastics, textiles, machinery and electrical, cables, glass, and automotive, as well as the financial sector index, all rose by over 1%.
