Central News Agency (Taipei, April 14) – The Taipei stock market opened higher and continued to rise today, closing up 838.83 points at 36296.12 points, a 2.37% increase, with a transaction value of NT$971.731 billion. The weighted index opened at 35584.09 points, with an intraday high of 36341.44 points and a low of 35584.09 points. The non-financial index closed at 32642.69 points, up 789.86 points. The eight major industry sectors saw gains in ceramics and brick (2.55%), plastics and chemicals (2.77%), textiles (1.36%), electrical and machinery (2.64%), and finance (1.02%), while food (0.14%), paper (0.12%), and construction (0.35%) saw declines. The number of buy orders was 26.71285 million shares, sell orders 17.379116 million shares, and transaction volume 13.527560 million shares. At closing, 657 companies rose, 342 fell, and 97 remained unchanged. The top five stocks by transaction volume were AUO, Innolux, Taiwan Glass, Macronix, and Actron. The top five stocks by percentage gain were Hiwin, USI, TPK-KY, Artcera, and AUO. The top five stocks by percentage decline were United Renewable Energy, Shinfox Energy, Sercomm, Shin Kong Steel, and Allion Labs.
