The Taiwan People's Party's Central Review Committee convened on April 13, 2026, and resolved to revoke the party membership of Legislator Li Zhen-hsiu, with immediate effect. Consequently, Li Zhen-hsiu will forfeit her position as a non-constituency legislator. Li Zhen-hsiu, a Mainland Chinese spouse, has been embroiled in disputes concerning her nationality and eligibility as a legislator. She was referred to the Central Review Committee after she claimed in a live broadcast that Hsinchu Mayor Kao Hung-an had received NT$7 million from Ko Wen-je, the TPP's founding chairman. TPP Chairman Huang Kuo-chang commented earlier that non-constituency legislators are expected to meet the demands and expectations of their supporters and honor their commitments to voters, rather than pursuing personal interests. He explicitly stated that Li Zhen-hsiu did not meet this standard. Li Zhen-hsiu arrived at the TPP headquarters around 2:30 PM to provide an explanation to the Central Review Committee. Following the meeting, the TPP issued a statement announcing the committee's decision to expel her.
