TAIPEI, April 15 (CNA) – Xinhua News Agency reported that a Russian naval fleet arrived in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, on the morning of the 15th, commencing a five-day friendly visit. The report emphasized that this visit is a routine friendly exchange activity between the Chinese and Russian navies, aimed at further deepening friendship and mutual trust, and enhancing practical cooperation. It is not directed at any third party and is unrelated to the current international and regional situation. Zhanjiang is the headquarters of the Chinese Navy's South Sea Fleet.
The report mentioned that the naval fleet, consisting of the Russian Navy's 'Perfect' and 'Cool' frigates and the 'Pechenga' medium-sized oil tanker, arrived in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, on the morning of the 15th, beginning a five-day friendly visit.
The report stated that at around 9 AM, guided by the Chinese Navy's Chenzhou ship, the Russian naval fleet, flying the national flags of China and Russia, docked at a military port in Zhanjiang. The Chinese side held a welcome ceremony at the pier. During the visit, the commander of the Russian fleet will meet with officials from the Southern Theater Command Navy and the Zhanjiang Municipal People's Government. Naval officers and soldiers from China and Russia will conduct mutual ship visits and hold deck receptions, professional exchanges, and sports competitions.
