(Central News Agency reporter Hsiao Po-yang, Changhua County, 18th) Premier Cho Jung-tai visited Changhua County today to show concern for the development of the pig farming industry, and then went to a nearby restaurant to eat braised pork rice and meat patties, supporting Taiwanese pork with practical actions. Cho said the government will assist businesses in expanding overseas sales, allowing Taiwan's agricultural products to continue shining globally.

Cho Jung-tai, DPP Changhua County Magistrate candidate and Legislator Chen Su-yueh, Minister of Agriculture Chen Jun-neih, and Wu Yin-ning, Deputy Executive Director of the Executive Yuan's Central Taiwan Joint Services Center, visited Hanbao Ranch in Changhua County in the morning, and then enjoyed pork delicacies like braised pork rice and meat patties at a restaurant in Fangyuan Township at noon.

Cho Jung-tai noted that an African Swine Fever incident occurred last October. Through the cooperation of farmers and the public nationwide, Taiwan successfully returned to being Asia's only "non-endemic country for three major pig diseases" on April 6.

Cho stated that the special arrangement to taste local delicacies like braised pork rice and fried pork at noon was to support domestic high-quality pork with practical actions. He encouraged the public to enjoy more of Taiwan's delicious, high-quality, and nutritious pork products. The government will also fully assist businesses in expanding into overseas markets, letting Taiwan's high-economic-value agricultural products continue to shine in the world.

In the afternoon, Cho Jung-tai and others proceeded to inspect the flower production area in Tianwei Township, Changhua County. Chen Su-yueh mentioned that many farmers reported sluggish flower prices to her. Because the heavy rains in July and August last year severely damaged Changhua's flowers, farmers replanted simultaneously, encountering overly concentrated harvest periods, which affected market prices. She cares deeply about this and invited the Agriculture and Food Agency and other units to hold a forum with flower farmers on April 2.

Chen Su-yueh said she invited Premier Cho to the Tianwei flower production area today to listen and understand the farmers' difficulties. She also suggested on-site that Cho allocate sufficient funds to promote measures such as strengthening variety innovation, enhancing industry resilience, establishing healthy seedling mass production systems, guiding the setup of greenhouse facilities, stabilizing the quantity and quality of seedling supplies, and direct sales to Taipei consumer areas, in order to strengthen the competitiveness of domestic flowers.

Chen Jun-neih stated that Changhua is a major flower production center. With Tianwei Township as the axis, connecting Yongjing Township, Beidou Township, and Xizhou Township, to build the floral industry from the roots and deeply plant it in the consumer market, the Ministry of Agriculture plans to start from Changhua County and link with the Tainan Orchid Technology Park to create a "Floral Green Corridor." It is expected to invest a total budget of 66 million NTD to enhance flower quality and stabilize production areas.

Chen Jun-neih added that the Ministry of Agriculture will discuss with farmers to upgrade the Tianwei Flower Wholesale Market, and will instruct the Agriculture and Food Agency and related units to use technology and digital services, combined with floral education and tourist experiences, to assist Changhua County nursery operators and the Tianwei Highway Garden in designing more unique floral attractions.

The Ministry of Agriculture stated that Changhua's open-air flower cultivation is susceptible to extreme weather, and distribution channels are mostly limited to joint marketing, which is the current industry dilemma. The Ministry will approach this from the aspects of technology, facilities, channels, and tourism, so that Changhua's floral industry can not only withstand natural disasters but also steadily increase production value with the support of resilient production facilities, allowing Taiwan's flowers to continue shining internationally.
