(CNA Reporter Wu Hsin-yun, Taipei, 18th) The Central Weather Administration (CWA) indicated that tomorrow the northeast monsoon will weaken and rainfall will ease. Except for localized scattered showers in Hualien, Taitung, and the Hengchun Peninsula, other areas will be partly cloudy to clear. On the 23rd, a front will pass through, making rain possible across the entire island, with significant showers or thunderstorms expected from central Taiwan northward.

CWA forecaster Tseng Chao-cheng told the Central News Agency reporter that a northeast monsoon front passed today, but it will weaken tomorrow, leading to reduced rainfall. Only Hualien, Taitung, and the Hengchun Peninsula will experience localized short showers, with afternoon thunderstorms possible in the southern regions and mountainous areas nationwide. Other areas will remain partly cloudy to clear.

Tseng Chao-cheng stated that the weather pattern tomorrow and the day after will be similar. On the 21st, a weak northeast wind will bring localized short showers to the eastern half and occasional isolated showers to the Greater Taipei area. Other regions will be partly cloudy to clear, with afternoon thunderstorms in mountainous areas.

Tseng also noted that the 22nd will see partly cloudy to clear skies across all areas, making it the most stable weather day of the coming week. Only the Hualien and Taitung peninsulas will see some isolated short showers and afternoon rain, but overall rainfall will be minimal.

However, Tseng pointed out that on the 23rd, a front will pass, bringing a chance of rain to all parts of Taiwan. Central areas and northward will experience significant showers or thunderstorms; southern Taiwan, Yilan, and Hualien will have short showers or thunderstorms, and Taitung will have short showers. On the 24th and 25th, the northeast monsoon will strengthen again, coupled with an eastward-moving rain band from southern China, maintaining the chance of rain island-wide, with the southeast, Hualien, and Taitung experiencing the most rain with short showers or thunderstorms.

Regarding temperatures, Tseng stated that tomorrow's low in the north will be around 19 to 22 degrees Celsius, and 20 to 25 degrees in other areas. The high in the north will be 25 to 27 degrees, a slight increase from today, while highs in other regions will approach 30 degrees.

Tseng added that temperatures will not fluctuate much next week. When the front passes, daytime highs will drop slightly, but nighttime and early morning lows will generally remain around 20 degrees without significant changes. During rainy periods, daytime temperatures will be slightly cooler, while non-rainy days will reach near 30 degrees. (Editor: Chen Jen-hua) 1150418
