New Taipei City Police Clash with Fraud Ring, 2 Cars Damaged, 2 Suspects Arrested, No Injuries

At approximately 11:20 AM today, a severe traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Shuhong North Road and Xincheng 8th Road in Wugu District, New Taipei City. A suspect vehicle being pursued by the New Taipei City Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division collided violently with police reconnaissance vehicles. The impact caused significant damage to the front ends of both vehicles. Police stated that the safety airbags in the reconnaissance vehicles deployed instantly due to the intense force. The incident occurred when officers attempted to intercept the suspects after tracking their movements in a fraud case. To prevent the suspects from escaping, officers used reconnaissance vehicles to block the suspect vehicle from both the front and rear. However, the suspects, in an attempt to evade capture, recklessly rammed the reconnaissance vehicles. The Criminal Investigation Division reported that although two vehicles, the reconnaissance car and the suspect vehicle, were damaged, two suspects, identified by their surnames Wu and Zhong, were subsequently arrested. On-site checks confirmed that besides the vehicle damage, no officers or suspects sustained injuries. The fire department reported that they responded to the scene but the civilian involved declined medical attention, and the police handled the situation. The incident also involved a passing civilian, Mr. Huang, whose motorcycle sustained minor damage, but he was not injured.
