National Theater and Opera House Artistic Directors Change; Qiu Yuan and Li Hui-mei Assume Roles

The National Performing Arts Center held a handover ceremony today for the new artistic directors of the National Theater & Concert Hall in Taipei and the National Taichung Theater, with Qiu Yuan and Li Hui-mei officially taking office. Chairman Yang Qi-wen, representing the board of directors, presented flowers to the outgoing artistic director of the National Theater & Concert Hall, Liu Yi-ru. The 4th board of directors of the National Performing Arts Center approved the appointments of artistic directors for the three venues in the north, central, and south on the 14th, with Qiu Yuan, Li Hui-mei, and Jian Wen-bin succeeding as artistic directors for the National Theater & Concert Hall, National Taichung Theater, and National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) respectively. Notably, Qiu Yuan, formerly the artistic director of the National Taichung Theater, is transferring to become the artistic director of the National Theater & Concert Hall in Taipei. Li Hui-mei will take over as the artistic director of the Taichung Theater, while Jian Wen-bin will continue in his role. As Jian Wen-bin is continuing as director of the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) and was attending rehearsals for a concert in Kaohsiung today, the inauguration ceremony will be held at Weiwuying on the morning of April 20th.
