Lin Chia-lung Meets New Lithuanian Representative, Hopes to Deepen Strategic Industry Cooperation

Taiwan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lin Chia-lung, met with the new Lithuanian Representative to Taiwan, Karolis Pilipauskas, stating that bilateral relations have continuously advanced since the mutual establishment of representative offices. He expressed hope for deeper cooperation in strategic industries such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, green energy, and drones, to jointly enhance the resilience of global democratic supply chains. Lin Chia-lung noted on his Facebook page that he met Pilipauskas on April 13 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasizing the value of like-minded partners amidst rapid international changes. Taiwan and Lithuania are important partners sharing values of freedom, democracy, and human rights. Since establishing mutual offices, Taiwan-Lithuania relations have steadily deepened, not only advancing hand-in-hand in democratic resilience but also gradually showing results in economic and industrial cooperation. Lin Chia-lung explained that in 2025, Taiwan's imports from Lithuania were approximately $60 million, a 63.47% increase compared to 2024; in the same year, Taiwan's exports to Lithuania reached $105 million, a 13.6% increase. Both sides have also continuously built cooperation foundations in laser, biomedical, and semiconductor fields through investment and financing mechanisms. Lin Chia-lung conveyed Taiwan's high regard for Lithuania's recent "Taiwan-Lithuania Economic Cooperation Action Plan" and looks forward to continued cooperation. With Lithuania scheduled to hold the EU rotating presidency in 2027, there is an expectation to deepen cooperation in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, green energy, and drones, to jointly enhance global democratic supply chain resilience. Lin Chia-lung mentioned his three recent visits to Europe, witnessing the continuous growth of Taiwan-Europe relations. Facing geopolitical changes and global supply chain restructuring, Taiwan demonstrates its indispensable strategic value in the democratic camp and expects to work with Europe to leverage advantages in artificial intelligence and semiconductors to build more resilient non-red supply chains. Lin Chia-lung looks forward to working with Pilipauskas to continuously deepen Taiwan-Lithuania cooperation in trade, technology, and democratic resilience, making the partnership built on shared values deeper and more far-reaching.
