Kyoto Boy's Death Case: Stepfather Claims He Disposed of Body Alone

In Nantan City, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, police have arrested a 37-year-old stepfather, Yuki Adachi, on suspicion of abandoning a body in connection with the death of his 11-year-old stepson. The Kyoto Prefectural Police announced today the formation of a special investigation headquarters led by the criminal investigation department. According to police, Adachi has confessed that he disposed of the body alone. The 11-year-old boy, who attended Sonobe Elementary School in Nantan City, went missing on March 23rd. His body was found on April 13th in a mountain area about 2 kilometers from the school. Adachi is suspected of moving and hiding the stepson's body in the Sonobe-cho mountain area of Nantan City and other locations between the morning of March 23rd and the afternoon of April 13th. The boy's body was ultimately discovered in a mountain area approximately 2 kilometers southwest of the elementary school he attended. Adachi had previously told police that he dropped the boy off near the school around 8 AM on March 23rd, after which he disappeared. Police have confirmed the boy was alive on the morning he went missing. Investigators believe Adachi moved the body to multiple locations before finally abandoning it in the discovered mountain area, presumably to prevent it from being found. Police conducted another search of the suspect's residence today to clarify the motive and are continuing to determine the exact cause of the boy's death.
