(Central News Agency reporter Li Chien-chung, Taipei, April 13) "Weightlifting Goddess" Kuo Hsing-chun today received a NT$10 million award from the Hongdao Foundation for her Tokyo Olympics gold medal. She stated that her current focus is on preparing for the domestic Asian Games qualifiers on June 6, hoping to secure her qualification.

Kuo Hsing-chun won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics with a significant advantage. Today, she received a NT$10 million award from the Hongdao Foundation and, in return, presented Hongdao Foundation Chairman Lin Hung-dao with a handmade gold medal.

In an interview with the Central News Agency, Kuo Hsing-chun expressed her gratitude to companies willing to support athletes, saying, "This gives us more resources to continue training and challenge our personal bests."

Kuo Hsing-chun stated that due to her fluctuating injuries, she is currently concentrating on the domestic Asian Games qualifiers on June 6, hoping to achieve good results and qualify.

Since the Nagoya Asian Games women's weightlifting will follow the new weight categories implemented by the International Weightlifting Federation starting August 1 this year, women's divisions will be split into 8 categories, but without the 58kg and 59kg classes that Kuo Hsing-chun primarily participated in. This means she can only choose between the 57kg or 61kg categories, which is another challenge.

Regarding the award from the Hongdao Foundation, Kuo Hsing-chun admitted she hasn't decided on its use yet, but giving back to grassroots sports is one option.

Kuo Hsing-chun said that during this period, she has visited various grassroots schools in Taitung with the foundation, seeing the children's excited and positive reactions, and rediscovering her passion for sports. "Every time I walk into a school, the cheers make me feel like an idol star."

Kuo Hsing-chun admitted that she is also infected by this enthusiasm. "Especially when I encounter slumps or problems in my training, I can temporarily step away and regain my motivation."

Recently, Kuo Hsing-chun attended the retirement ceremonies of professional baseball player Chou Szu-chi and basketball star Lin Chih-chieh, which deeply moved her, making her occasionally think about what it would be like when she retires.

Kuo Hsing-chun said, "These few retirement ceremonies, seeing fans' cheering slogans for athletes, make me feel that specialized athletes can bring so much motivation to everyone, which is great. However, I haven't thought about retirement yet; I'm focusing on the Nagoya Asian Games." (Editor: Chang Ya-ching) 1150413
