Kenting National Park Headquarters Launches "Hear Kenting" Music Festival, Symphony Orchestra to Perform at Eluanbi

Kenting National Park Headquarters has launched a new outdoor music brand, "Hear Kenting," with its inaugural concert, "Peninsula Melody," set to take place on May 2nd at Eluanbi Park. The event invites the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra to perform, allowing the public to rediscover Hengchun amidst natural scenery. Hsu Shu-kuo, Director of Kenting National Park Headquarters, stated that Kenting offers not only beautiful oceans and rich ecology but also profound human stories. Choosing Eluanbi Park, with its "Light of East Asia" lighthouse and magnificent coral reef terrain, as the venue aims to transform the natural landscape into a stage through the concert format, offering a unique national park experience—"not just seeing the scenery, but hearing the stories of the land." Chu Hung-chang, Executive Director of the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, noted that this concert is reminiscent of Kaohsiung's famous outdoor music festivals. He expressed honor in participating in establishing a local music brand, especially with the sea as the backdrop, which creates a very moving performance. According to a press release from Kenting National Park Headquarters, the concert features a diverse lineup, led by conductor Chang Yin-fang and the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, joined by baritone Hsu Yi-sheng, yueqin player Hsueh Jung-han (Ham), the Paiwan Bella Youth Vocal Ensemble, and artist Hsiao Hsien (Huang Yu-hsien). The program includes re-arranged interpretations of Hengchun folk songs and ancient melodies, as well as musical works from other peninsula regions worldwide, showcasing cultural exchange. Kenting National Park Headquarters explained that "Hear Kenting" will be positioned as an annual music brand, with future plans to continue bringing music into the mountains and seas, creating outdoor venues with local characteristics. On the day of the event, three volunteer guided tours are planned for the afternoon, and a free shuttle service will be provided.
