Hualien County's General Budget Delay Prompts Interior Ministry to Convene Communication within One Month

The delayed review of Hualien County's 2027 general budget has led the county government to request approval from the Ministry of the Interior, citing the expiration of the statutory period. The Ministry of the Interior announced today that it will, within the statutory consultation period of one month, invite both sides of the county government and the council, as well as relevant ministries, to communicate on the disputed issues to resolve differences and build consensus. According to Article 40, Paragraph 4 of the Local Government Act, if a county's general budget is not approved within three months after the start of the fiscal year, the county government may report to the Ministry of the Interior, which will convene negotiations within one month. If no consensus is reached by then, the Ministry of the Interior will make the final decision. The Ministry has received the official document from the Hualien County Government and has requested opinions from the county government, the county council, and relevant ministries.
