US-Iran War Breaking News
(CNA New York 16th) Iran's ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, said today that Tehran is "cautiously optimistic" about talks with the US to end hostilities and expressed expectations for "meaningful results".
According to AFP, Amir Saeid Iravani told the UN General Assembly: "Despite our deep distrust of the US due to its repeated abandonment of diplomacy, we are still participating in the negotiations in good faith and remain cautiously optimistic."
He added that if Washington adopts a "rational and constructive approach... these negotiations have the potential to bring meaningful results."
Following the first round of talks held in the Pakistani capital Islamabad last weekend, all parties are working hard, brokered by Pakistan, to prepare for a second round of negotiations between Iran and the United States in hopes of ending the war. The date for the second round of talks has not yet been finalized. (Translators: Kao Chao-fen / Editor: Yang Chao-yen) 1150417
