In response to the large number of accompanying followers and vehicles, the Miaoli County Police Bureau will implement zoned and phased flexible traffic control measures in the Yuanli and Tongxiao areas starting from the morning of the 19th.

The Miaoli County Police Bureau pointed out today that regarding the Baishatun Mazu pilgrimage return, it is estimated that about 120,000 followers will follow the palanquin on the return journey. Starting at 8:00 AM on the 19th, sections of Provincial Highway 1 in Yuanli and Tongxiao will be successively closed or have lanes reallocated. Depending on the crowd and traffic flow, flexible closure controls will be implemented at the Tongwan connecting road, Xinpu, and Baishatun interchange ramps of the West Coast Expressway (Provincial Highway 61).

The County Police Bureau stated that starting from the early morning of the 20th, traffic controls will continue around Tongxiao and Baishatun, with some sections closed until the afternoon of that day. Motorcycles and slow-moving vehicles will not be restricted this time. For real-time road conditions and the latest control measures, the public can tune in to the Police Broadcasting Service to grasp driving information.

This year's Baishatun Mazu pilgrimage attracted over 460,000 registrations. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) has specifically enhanced transportation capacities. The Taiwan Railway Corporation has added extra trains at Baishatun and Tongxiao stations, and the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation has done the same at the Miaoli station. The County Police Bureau reminded that on the 20th, the day Mazu returns to the temple, the MOTC has planned a shuttle bus from HSR Miaoli Station. From 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, a bus will depart every 10 minutes round-trip to Gongtian Temple. The boarding and alighting location is at the 123.5 km mark of Provincial Highway 1 (near the Gongtian Temple archway).

The Tongxiao Township Office shuttle bus will run from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on the 20th, with one bus every 10 minutes. The route runs between Tongxiao Bathing Beach and Sunset Boulevard to facilitate public transfers.

In addition, the police reminded the public not participating in the pilgrimage who are passing through the Miaoli area on the 19th and 20th to try to take National Freeway 1 or National Freeway 3 to avoid the congested sections of Provincial Highway 1 and Provincial Highway 61.
