(Sydney, April 13, Comprehensive Foreign Report) Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles announced today that Lieutenant General Susan Coyle will be appointed as the Chief of Army, becoming the first female Chief of Army in the Australian Army's 125-year history; Marles described this as a "profound and historic moment."

Agence France-Presse reported that Coyle, in her 30-year military career, has been deployed to the Solomon Islands, Afghanistan, and the Middle East, accumulating rich practical experience.

Marles (Richard Marles) told the media: "Coyle's achievement means she will become the first female Chief of Army in Australia's history."

He said: "This is a moment of profound historical significance. As Susan (Coyle's name) once told me, you become what you see in the future."

The Australian Army is undergoing a major transformation, introducing long-range firepower and drones, as well as other modern combat equipment. Coyle also emphasized her experience in areas such as cyber warfare.
